As for the racial thing in the military, I have seen whites cry over fallen black brothers and vice versa. In war the only color that bothers anybody is the red blood.
One of the best friends I ever had was a black Sp5 from Philadelphia I served with. We were known as Blackie and Whitey to everybody. He watched my back and I watched his. Through thick and thin.
